It’s a good thing I ordered Disney-Plus a few days ago. Disney is going to broadcast an original cast production of Hamilton on July 3rd. Rather than having spent over $500 for two NYC Broadway theater tickets, I only spent $6.99 for a one month subscription to the Disney + channel. It would have been a saving of $492.01 if I actually went to the Broadway production to see the original cast of the musical, Hamilton. But the odds of me spending money like that, regardless of how wonderful, fantastic, astounding or popular the theater production was, is of no avail to me. Obviously, waiting has its good points!
The other good thing about my paying $6.99 (it used to be $5.99) for the one month subscription is now that my husband is housebound, in quarantine and isolation, as he awaits the results of his Covid-19 testing, he has been parked on the living room couch, binge watching all-things-Star Wars, up to and including the latest chapters of The Mandalorian (click here). So, the expense hasn’t been a total loss. LOL!

I guess all of us, when we get sick, are just children at heart. My husband’s temperature has been fluctuating between 100.1 and 98.6 (which the latter is the normal human temp but the fluctuations aren’t). We’ll get the results in 2 to 4 days. In the interim, I’m not enjoying the quarantine, the isolation and the ‘what-if’ nasty thoughts that have been creeping into my brain should my husband meet the same demise as my brother. (My brother contracted the coronavirus in March and died within a month).
Stay safe, my friend. Wear a mask, wash your hands often, social distance and stay home as much as possible. My hubby was out and about doing a bit too many errands IMHO. Let’s hope and pray he’s fine and dandy and we can continue onward with our retirements.
Hi Cindi, Up early this morning and read this entry. Looks like Nick’s back downstairs and if he’s sneezing still you are at risk if you are not wearing a mask constantly.
So I know you have a huge stockpile of food but how many prepared meals, soups, baked goods, and snacks do you have ready just in case you get sick also and Nick is still not feeling 100%? I would suggest you do some cooking, soup making, and baking while you’re waiting for his results and pack them in single serving size Portions. That way if one of you feel like one thing and the other just wants soup. It’s easy. My frozen meals and soups were a lifesaver. It took two months to get back my energy and finish with the cough. The first Two weeks I was totally on the couch except to get tea or soup from the freezer. I would weed your garden if it needs it now and do any cleaning that requires you to bend over because You may be easily dizzy after Covid19.
Hope these suggestions are not needed but it pays to be prepared.
It’s 57 here and I actually have all my windows open and wearing a sweater! Such a change from the heat wave! Sincerely, Lara

Hi Lara. There’s no TV upstairs, thus Nick in the living room. I’m in my bedroom with the door closed. When I come out I wear my mask AND my gloves. Nick can’t leave the living room. He phones me when he needs me.
Glad you mentioned preparing and freezing meals. I’ve been doing it all along. That’s why my freezer is bursting at the seams! I have a few ready to eat meals socked in there! I was worried about me getting sick. Not the other way around.
Thanks for all your precious tips. I did a massive cleaning this morning. Weeding yesterday. I’m worried if the both of us get sick at the same time, what will we do? We have no one who can or will help. My kids are good with the phone though. MY SIL has been locked in her condo ever since my brother died. She’s terrified to go out. She was having my sister get her everything but I put a stop to that. Now her own DIL, brother and sister are helping her out. No need to endanger my own sister like that!
It’s cooled off here too. Love it. Windows open and I am enjoying just breathing in that fresh mountain air!
Again, thank you. 🙂

Sounds like you two are in the same boat as I was. I was home alone took care of myself and my DD did call my son’s family was sick too.
Not sure if you got the space but cooking large portions and then stacking whole meals on microwave plates covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator also is a handy way to do it too. Depending On the variety of your meat stockpile A large crockpot of Stew Or soup works or pulled pork, taco or burritos meat, bolognese Sauce overnight with this week’s cool nights. I will be making vegetable soup.
I got an Instacart order from Aldi’s yesterday enough meals for at least six weeks and they had everything! Sincerely, Lara

If I could get Instacart and Aldi’s it’d be like heaven on earth. But alas, no…….:(
Pulled pork sounds perfect. I could live on tacos for like forever. Going to make that today! Hubby’s back in bed sleeping. It’s only 10AM. He said he is tired. But at least his temperature is back down to 98.4
Ugh.
No results yet.

HI Lara. It took a very long time to get the results. In the interim, Nick lived upstairs and I lived downstairs. It was awkward to say the least.
Results back. They’re negative. But his doc still wanted him to self quarantine the full 14 days due to false negatives….just to be on the safe side.
All is well. Fever gone. Chills gone. He tested negative. (PS: I’m doing fine!!)
