Bored out of our minds, unable to spend yet another second at home (we’ve been homebound since March 1, 2020 due to this pandemic!) hubby and I got into our car and with hubby at the wheel, I gave him the command: D.R.I.V.E!!!!!!!
And drive we did. In my mind I was looking for a spot, near a lake….with a picnic table, where I could sit and just take in a view. Any view. Anything to help me forget all about this pandemic crap. After a few turns and scoring a bunch of miles, we came upon this winery.
Established in 1982 on a former dairy farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, Millbrook Vineyards & Winery produces a range of high-quality wines that includes Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Tocai Friulano. Guests are welcome for daily tastings in the restored Dutch barn, and guided tours are offered on weekends. (click here)
With breathtaking views, oodles of vineyards, spectacular mountain views, hubby and I came upon Millbrook Vineyards and Winery. As our luck would have it, the vineyard was open for business! Bless their hearts! The restaurant was closed BUT you could still have a glass of wine, sit in either a comfy chair or a picnic table by the lake and take in the views. Which we did. And for a moment in time, we forgot all about the pandemic and savored a few hours as if our lives had never been disrupted!
Get thee to a winery! Best kept secret we’ve found so far. Enjoy.
