Out with the old. In with the new. Brand new. Thanks to a 75% off summer sale from Old Navy, I’ve been able to replace some of my old, worn torn summer clothes and get a brand spanking new wardrobe. As with every minimalist, whatever you bring in has to equally go out. So, I spent an hour or so going through my current summer clothes (tee shirts, shorts and tops mostly) and deciding which ones I was going to toss, which ones I could still keep and which ones I would donate to Goodwill. There wasn’t much to toss. The ones I am going to keep I put in with the pile of new clothes which have to be washed. The clothes I was going to donate, I placed in a white plastic bag and will drop them off at the nearest Goodwill first chance I get. I found it funny that the clothes I was going to donate were clothes I bought a few years back from Goodwill. Oh well. Perhaps someone else will enjoy them as much as I have.
The clothes on the far left of this photo are the new clothes. They need to be washed, folded and put away in their new digs. The pile in the middle I am still on the fence about. They’re all Danskin athletic wear and I have to think about them. Will I be exercising anytime soon again? Will I need/use them again in the very near future? The pile in the white plastic bag are going right back to Goodwill. They served me well over the years. I’m very thankful that my new summer wardrobe has an ample selection now of new clothes!
The last few days here have seen temperatures in the mid 90sF but feeling as if it were in the mid 100sF. It’s been so hot I haven’t gone out. I’d rather stay home inside the air conditioning. Sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and do absolutely nothing. I didn’t watch TV. I didn’t read a book. I just sat around and did a lot of thinking. I also did a lot of napping! I used the time to think about life. My life. Your life. Everyone’s life. And how it all has changed so much in the last year and a half. And how it’s never going to go back to the way it was. We’re all changed now.
My home has now become an oasis. It’s like a sanctuary. Someplace to keep me safe and sheltered. It has gotten so comfy in here that I don’t ever want to leave. That’s NOT a good sign. Yet I’m very content to just putz around the house, despite it being only 4 rooms. I find lots of things to see and do around here. Why would I want to go out and deal with the outside world? There’s nothing out there except liars and fear mongers. They promised us that once we got the vaccine we’d be safe and life would return back to normal. Well? Has it? Now we have a slew of variants heading our way. The truth now being told is that our vaccines (Pfizer) will only give us 47% protection after six months and that 47% might not be adequate to protect us from the onslaught of new variants coming down the pike this fall. In other words, we’re back to square one.
Niall Ferguson, renown historian, told us in his book, Doom, that the scientists and politicians know nothing about how to handle pandemics. Apparently, that’s true. Even though there have been multiple pandemics throughout history, man has learned nothing. So, where does that leave us? Nowheresville. That’s where. Man is so enthralled in solving climate change and saving the planet that he/she has forgotten they have to save man/woman first. Without a human being, the planet can not be saved.
We New Yorkers have just gone through a long drawn out political disaster with our Governor Andrew Cuomo. Apparently, our three term Luv Gov has been a most corrupt politician and sexual pervert these last eleven years. It was excruciating painful to listen to his rants on how it wasn’t his fault that a directive he gave during the height of covid-19 got over 15,000 elderly people killed. His sexual advances towards 11 women (that we know of) was just all a mistake. A misunderstanding He’s Italian and that’s what Italian men do. Italians are also mob bosses and it turned out Cuomo was that too. He led a political office that was so toxic, most state employees had to work in fear of reprisals and revenge if they didn’t appease Don Corleone Cuomo.
Look at the meanness in Cuomo’s face after announcing his resignation:
Is this any way to run an airline? to paraphrase a popular airline advertisement. Guess not. Cuomo resigned (click here for all the nasty info). A female Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul is now our governor and she started off her reign with a lie. Hochul stated she knew nothing of Cuomo’s philandering and as any native New Yorker who has a brain knows……..Cuomo’s antics were legendary. Just never openly talked about.
As Ferguson said….we’re doomed. Doomed. And back to square one. Is there any reason for me to come out of my home anymore? Maybe my politics need to be purged too. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could just crumple the guy up, fold him into a white plastic bag and drop it all off at the next local Goodwill store?
That would make a very nice purge, for sure.
