My living room is now complete. Hubby finished the install of our new pellet stove. We haven’t used it yet because the weather has been warm. But we’re ready for the winter. Bring it on! The new stove addition compelled us to finally sell off our twenty year old couch and replace it with a new modern farmhouse look. Thankfully, I was able to re-use whatever else we had plus I streamlined the room a bit. I’m starting to get in to minimalism lately and I am happily finding out that less is indeed more.
I have a lamp on top of the pellet stove because I don’t know where to put it right now or if I should even keep it. It seems the tall floor lights take up very little floor space and look less cluttered. We kept the same color on the walls and just did some touch ups. All my little knick-knacks seem to still fit in place, so they will stay. I’m actually looking forward to the first blizzard (not really!!). I’ll let you know how everything works out.

In case you forgot what my original living room looked like, here’s a reminder:

Looks great! You are so lucky you haven’t had to turn on your heat but once. I have had my heat on four out of the last five days 36,39, 42, and 41. Usually for an hour or so to take the chill off. I am not sure what increase the natural gas cost will be but I invested my seven month conservation savings at 9.25% and hopefully it helps cover the rate increase. Not sure if this increase will be larger then the $60 extra I am paying monthly for gasoline. The wind is blowing hard outside, trees swaying, leaves showering down with the rain. The beauty of autumn colors are fading fast. Sincerely, Lara

Lara, we had a tree fall down in the back and it just missed our deck. Whew! Hubby sent all summer cutting down trees near the house with our new landscaper. So, that was a very thoughtful thing to do!! I put a call in to our propane company because I want our tank topped off now, before the actual winter sets in and the rising prices. Now=$2.89 a gallon. Next month? Who knows. Best to fill up now. We also have a full year of pellets. So, we are ready. Bring it on!
Right now I’m wearing my woolen socks, flannel pants and a hoodie over my long sleeve warm pullover shirt. Double blankets on the bed. Limited hot showers. Lots of cups of hot tea. Hot dinners. Hot soup for lunch. No complaining. Just thankful and grateful we can be prepared as we can be.
PS: last rain storm here, we had to replace our side screen door. The rain destroyed it. Hubby did the installation of a new door. I don’t remember the price BUT it was slightly under $200. UGH! Always something…….

Everything looks nice! I don’t see any other place where that lamp would work. Maybe you could just use it on the stove except during the winter. I enjoy lamp lights on in the evening while watching TV.

Glenda, I decided on getting another floor lamp to put alongside the sofa. I only have one on the left side. I bought a matching floor lamp for the other side. The lamp that was on the stove will go on my newish sewing table. Problem solved.
Thanks. I’m slowly getting used to the new room. So different. Hubby says it looks like a rich person country home. LOL! They should only know!!!!

The room looks beautiful! Pellet and wood stoves have come a long way in terms of aesthetics. Love it!

Maureen, thank you so much. Hubby did a lot of research before buying. He said the size we selected is perfect to heat our whole home (the first floor) and he loved the design. Thanks again for your kind comment.
